Prizes and Sex Changes

Posted by: Shannon   in Book News

I entered nine of twelve categories, and I didn’t even place in eight of them… not even an honorable mention, but I won FIRST PLACE in the humor category with my End of Innocence story. I took home a check for $250! I think it is the first real money I ever made with my writing. WOOHOO!

The sex change in Heretic is coming along pretty well, but I am going to take a break and FINALLY update my poor neglected web pages.

Reading and Writing

I’ve finally rediscovered the joy of reading. When I was a child, and later as an adolescent, I read voraciously. My time at Wesleyan killed that joy, when I had to reads hundreds of pages a day, and we’re not talking about easy reads either. I read a little in the Army, but not much, and then my time as a student/instructor at WVUP and ECPI drove additional nails into the coffin. I was so sick of reading things I didn’t care about that I never had the urge to read a book for entertainment. But that has changed. Right now I am on the fourth book of Stephan King’s Dark Tower series. The last time I read it, the fourth book was the last. I started over now that I can read all seven without waiting for the next installment. After that, I think I will revisit The Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia. These are the books that made me want to write to begin with. VIEW MORE
